The Thread – The DSS Legacy Project
Ten Years, A New Horizon: The Metamorphosis of DSS
The Digital Society School did not just build a curriculum over the last decade. It built a community of deep empathy, messy experimentation, and ideas that actually changed the world. Now, as the programme prepares for its most significant transformation, scaling its ten years of experience into a dedicated Minor programme at HvA, its legacy faces a turning point.
A culture this alive cannot be preserved in a dusty archive or a forgotten folder on a shared drive. A school that taught thousands to design for people deserves a living, breathing monument. Our team, The Thread, stepped up to the plate with a singular challenge: build a digital experience as bold, playful, and adaptive as DSS itself, serving as the bridge between an incredible past and an unwritten future.
A decade is long enough to fill rooms with laughter, walls with sharp ideas, and resumes with impressive titles. But the true magic of DSS lands in the chest, not on paper. It has been a living laboratory of human potential. Our job is not to build a museum for a dead past. It is to build the vessel that carries this fire into the next generation.
