CHALLENGE
“Power comes not from knowledge kept, but from knowledge shared’’ Bill Gates
The main challenge in Amsterdam Nieuw-West is that lived, professional, and scientific knowledge remain siloed and unequally valued. While existing platforms provide information, knowledge exchange is fragmented and often inaccessible to residents. The challenge is therefore not only technical but also relational: how to create an inclusive system that translates institutional knowledge into accessible formats, elevates local lived experience, builds trust, and enables sustained participation across diverse stakeholders.
This project explored how knowledge can be shared more inclusively within the Samen Nieuw-West, a long-term collaboration between residents, researchers, professionals, and government actors. Through research, co-creation, and prototyping, the project aimed to develop a tangible and testable concept that makes different forms of knowledge lived, professional, and scientific, more visible, usable, and equally valued, strengthening participation and social resilience in Amsterdam Nieuw-West.
