‘Future of print’ at exhibition in Amsterdam

This is how the future of paper looks like in the digital age. You can experience Future of print yourself from November 2019 – January 2020 at Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.

The research and prototypes of our team is showcased at the travelling exhibition Paper Magic; bringing innovations from across Europe together. This is your chance to experience (touch, hear and see) many unexpected paper solutions like WiFi-blocking wallpaper and the first augmented travel guide in the world.

Demonstration
On the 25th of November we will demonstrate the interactive items on display.

12.00   Welcome by Liselotte Neervoort, VU Universiteitsbibliotheek
12.05   Introduction + demonstration of interactive paper by Heidy van Beurden, initiator
12.30   Demonstration by Digital Society School Amsterdam
12.45   Do-it-yourself!

Paper Magic was initiated by Heidy van Beurden, author of the books Paper Breakthroughs and Smart City dynamics. The kick-off for the exhibition was at VTT Technical Research Centre in Helsinki in 2015, aimed at scientists. In 2018 the COMM museum in The Haguehosted the expo for the first time for a diverse range of audiences, including families and schools, followed by the public library in Amsterdam (OBA) in 2019.

“The research carried out by Digital Society School demonstrates really well the integration of print and new technologies, enhancing its benefits for different purposes” says Heidy van Beurden

The work shows the impact of sending emails and innovations in the print industry. The research and prototyping is carried out in a half year project in collaboration with grafimedia branche organisation AenO and printers Jubels, Robstolk and Wihabo.
