Context

In the landscape of diversity and inclusion resources, many existing projects struggle with two critical challenges: they are either too abstract to be practically implemented or too complex to be user-friendly. This project takes a different approach and lens, specifically targeting teacher trainees with a platform designed to be both accessible and actionable. The core philosophy is to move beyond mere information dissemination. Instead, the project creates an innovative learning experience that empowers teacher trainees to engage with diversity and inclusion content in a meaningful, flexible way.

Target Sustainable development goals:

4: Quality education                                                  10. Reduced Inequalities

The project contributes to the achievement of these SDG goals

Goal of the project
Foster inclusive teaching practices by providing young professionals (teacher trainers) with practical tools that make it easier to discuss, implement, and reflect on strategies for inclusivity in diverse classroom settings in the Netherlands.

Main question
How might we create an easy and adaptable way for teachers to learn about inclusive education and apply it in their daily practice?

Objective
Create an intuitive and engaging digital platform (website) tailored to young professionals preparing to teach in classroom settings. This platform will provide in-context learning exercises and resources that:
Enhance their ability to engage diverse and interdisciplinary classrooms. Foster personal growth, introspection, and self-reflection as educators.

Key Project Characteristics:

  • Tailored specifically for teacher trainees
  • Provides diverse content formats
  • Incorporates an interactive learning loop
  • Allows entry points at multiple stages of understanding

Project Structure:

The platform comprises five primary modules:

One module focused on self-reflection

Four thematic modules addressing specific diversity and inclusion aspects Learning Loop Framework:

The project introduces a dynamic learning pathway with four interconnected stages:

  1. Vision & Intention
  2. Design
  3. Practice Unique Flexibility:

A standout feature of this approach is its adaptability. Teacher trainees can enter the learning loop at any point depending on their current needs. For instance:

If a challenging classroom situation has just occurred, they can start at the “Practice” stage

While preparing a lesson, they might begin at the “Design” stage

By creating this flexible, user-centric platform, the project aims to make diversity and inclusion education more approachable, practical, and directly applicable to real-world teaching contexts.
