Project

Minima Portal

CHALLENGE

  1. How can complex eligibility criteria for municipal support services be translated into simple, user-friendly questions that are easy for low-literacy users to understand?
  2. What design features or process steps can effectively guide minimum-income households through the application process for municipal support while maintaining legal compliance?
  3. How can the platform reduce barriers such as digital illiteracy, bureaucratic complexity, and social stigma to improve access to support services?

Our team at the Digital Society School will spend five months conducting research and developing prototypes to explore solutions to these questions for Minima.

Main goals:

  1. Develop a system that can quickly and accurately determine a user’s eligibility for municipal support services through a user-friendly interface.
  2. Design an intuitive platform that provides clear, step-by-step guidance to help users complete applications for support services with ease.
  3. Minimize bureaucratic and digital literacy barriers to improve service access for minimum-income households, empowering them with a dignified experience
  4. Translate complex legal and regulatory information into understandable content while ensuring the platform remains fully compliant with relevant laws.

In the end, we want to design a simplified prototype that would:

  • By removing complexity, more citizens will be able to successfully apply for and receive the support they’re entitled to.
  • A clear, modular prototype allows the platform to be replicated and adapted for other municipalities or additional services in the future.
  • The tool fosters trust and confidence by providing a dignified and respectful interface that safeguards user privacy while considering the implications of the General Data Protection Regulation.
  • The system should quickly determine eligibility for different services through user-friendly interfaces that translate complex criteria into simple, clear questions.
